Newport Beach Boat Parade is the premier holiday event in southern California. For over 100 years the Newport Boat Parade has dazzled spectators. The boat parade in Newport Beach began as a 9 boat affair during the turn of the 20th century and has grown into hundreds of ships and homes in full décor with over 1 million people viewing the parade each year. What a Treasured Treat!
The Newport Beach Boat Parade takes place the third Wednesday through Sunday in the month of December. The parade is a 5 day event starting at 6 pm and lasting until sometime after 9:30 pm each night.
The Balboa Fun Zone is one of Southern California's oldest and last great coastal amusement areas and a popular family-friendly attraction for visitors to Newport Beach. Visitors can enjoy rides on the waterfront Ferris Wheel, play games in the arcade where you win Treasures or tour the nautical museum while enjoying their favorite beach treats. This is also a popular place to rent bikes, harbor cruises, or take off for a day trip to nearby Catalina Island on the Catalina Flyer. The Balboa Fun Zone is located on Balboa Peninsula across from Balboa Pier off Balboa Blvd. A public parking lot is available across Balboa Blvd next to the pier. Or the Fun Zone can be reached by the Auto Ferry located on Balboa Island.
The Balboa Pier is one of two piers in Newport Beach, Balboa Pier was built in 1906 along with the nearby Balboa Pavilion in an effort to attract to people to Newport Beach. The Pacific Electric Railway extended a route to this location around the same time making it more accessible for people from Los Angeles.
Today the pier is a popular fishing spot. The fish caught from the pier consist mostly of mackerel and flounder. The pilings are home to a large population of starfish that feed on the large colonies of mussels growing there. Fishermen catching starfish by mistake are a relatively common sight.
In the 1980s, the first of Orange County's Ruby's Diner restaurants opened on the pier. The 1940s nostalgia-themed restaurant has since become an Orange County landmark. A true Newport Beach Treasure
The Newport Beach Pier, located at Balboa Peninsula, offers stunning views to the north toward Huntington Beach, and looking south, you can see another structure, the Balboa Pier. This five-mile stretch of beach boasts a bevy of activities where you will make many Treasured memories. You can walk there from our properties via the Newport Beach Boardwalk. The boardwalk is a three-mile pathway that stretches from 36th Street to E St. Not only can you walk, run, and bike on this stretch, but you can also stop by one of the many shops and restaurants along the way!
Fashion Island is an outdoor regional shopping mall in Newport Beach, California located outside Corona Del Mar off of Pacific Coast Highway.
Opened in 1967 by The Irvine Company as the anchor to their master-planned Newport Center district, Fashion Island is anchored by Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom. Home of many Treasures.
